The mining and resources sectors have undergone more change in the past decade than in the past 100 years. The digital mine is no longer a future prospect, it's here and it's happening. You are invited to a unique cocktail and networking event themed around responses to the technological and business challenges facing the mining industry. A panel of international thought leaders will share their insights through a 60 minute moderated discussion/Q&A session. Our panel will debate how the mining sector can achieve increased relevance to the investment community through technical and strategic innovation. Topics will include adapting to a digital mining platform, integrated intelligent systems, end to end solutions, innovations in project execution.

Over his twenty four years with Hatch, Jan has developed an in-depth, hands-on understanding of the relationships between business strategy and project development. Jan has managed every aspect of the design, construction, commissioning and operation of large mines and metallurgical facilities, from the study phase through detailed design to commissioning and operations. He is skilled at guiding the project team in delivering the desired project benefits to clients, including his expertise in the development and implementation of new technology projects from pilot plant studies through all engineering phases, construction, commissioning and plant operations.

Adrian Mcfadden

A Mining engineer by trade, Adrian’s career path has taken him from underground mining to an executive committee member role in a global business. His passion for safe execution has been recognised twice with operations under his leadership winning Canada’s national Ryan award for safety. Adrian joined Hatch a year ago to lead our mining innovation operation. Previously, he was vice president, underground mining, for KGHM International where he led operations in Canada, the US and Chile. He has also held senior roles with Falconbridge (now Glencore), Compass Minerals and Quadra FNX.

Carl Weatherell

Canada Mining Innovation Council

David is an active member of the Gowling WLG natural resources sector team and acts for a significant number of mining clients with assets spread across the globe. In addition, he has advised numerous nominated advisers/brokers on successful admissions and on secondary fundraisings. His practice focuses mainly on equity capital markets and public and private mergers and acquisitions. David also serves as co-chair of the firm's global tech group, acting for start-up businesses at the beginning of their life cycle through to established quoted companies. These key sectors in which he operates result in a practice which is predominantly international in nature and he therefore regularly coordinates advice across a variety of jurisdictions to ensure a consistent approach, regardless of where the client is doing business.
