Hon. Stephen Lecce

Minister of Energy and Electrification Government of Ontario

Stephen Lecce is the Minister of Energy and Electrification for the province of Ontario and the Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for King-Vaughan.

As Ontario’s Minister of Energy and Electrification, Stephen is keeping energy bills down for residents and businesses across Ontario, while expanding one of the cleanest grids in the world with reliable and affordable energy. In his mission to build out the grid and power Ontario’s growth, Stephen is engaging with leaders from Ontario's world-class energy sector, and partners across the province, including Indigenous communities, local distribution companies, transmission companies, and energy agencies, to ensure the province’s energy infrastructure is built the right way for future generations. Stephen's work will continue to advance Ontario's clean energy advantage and help ensure that Ontario's energy system is ready to support and attract new investments.

Stephen's first experience in politics was in his hometown of Vaughan, involved in the 1999 election of the late MPP Al Palladini. Since then, he has served as the Chief spokesperson for former Prime Minister, the Honourable Stephen Harper, as Deputy Government House Leader, the Parliamentary Assistant to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier.

More recently, Lecce served as the longest Education Minister since the late Bette Stephenson, serving for nearly five years.

Stephen is a community leader, who has devoted over half his life to public service.

He continues to give back and support the people of King-Vaughan as their Member of Provincial Parliament. He is an active member of the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce, the former first Vice President of the National Congress of Italian Canadians, and former Youth Education Chair of Vaughan’s Royal Canadian Legion (Mackenzie Branch 414).

Stephen lives in Vaughan, where he grew up, and remains active in his community.
