A proven leader, team-builder, and industry veteran with over 20 years of experience working on energy policies, enterprise risk management and stakeholder engagement, Michelle has international experience representing the nuclear industry in Canada at marquee events as a speaker and representative including Climate Week (NYC), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference (Vienna) and Women in Nuclear Canada (Ottawa).
Prior to her work at Deloitte, Michelle spent part of her career working for the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA), the national voice for the nuclear industry in Canada, representing over 100 organizations across the nuclear value chain including operators, researchers and suppliers. In her role with the CNA, Michelle was responsible for strategic vision, engagement and policy advisory, including Canada’s response to changes to environmental assessments.
She also worked for Canada’s nuclear regulatory body, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) supporting the communications and engagement secretariat and the policy and international relations division on pivotal nuclear files and outreach including the global response to Fukushima. She has profiled nuclear initiatives such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Department of Energy Accident Tolerant Fuels program and the importance of social impact as a revenue driver, highlighting uranium company Cameco’s community successes.
Her work on the Clean Energy Ministerial Task Team, for the Government of Canada, led her to receiving an Interdepartmental Award for her efforts which were focused on policies to support the adoption and deployment of low-carbon technologies across the Canadian economy. Michelle also led communications and engagement for the Clean Energy Ministerial Secretariat in Paris, working with over twenty different country representatives as part of her leadership role for the Ministerial.
Her work at Deloitte has included a supply chain assessment for SMR company ARC Technologies and leading a project for the Government of Canada on policies and incentives to drive innovation across the utilities sector.
She holds professional level degrees and certifications in Sustainability, ESG Investing, Journalism and Atmospheric Physics.
