Declan Burke

Declan Burke is Nuclear Power Strategy Director at Centrica, where he leads the company's work on its nuclear strategy. Centrica has a range of interests across the nuclear sector, including existing generation, new build and advanced reactor opportunities, with a particular focus on the role of firm low-carbon power in supporting energy security, industrial growth and the rising power demand associated with AI. 

Before joining Centrica, Declan was Director of Group Strategy at SSE. Prior to that he spent almost a decade in senior government roles, including as Director for Nuclear Projects and Director for Clean Power Strategy, helping shape UK energy and nuclear policy. He also served as a Non-Executive Director of the Low Carbon Contracts Company. Earlier in his career, Declan worked in investment banking and the Shareholder Executive, advising on major infrastructure and corporate transactions.
